Carl J. ApicellaCarl Apicella serves as AEGL’s President and oversees the Geosynthetics Division of the Company. Carl possesses over 18 years experience in the environmental and solid waste industry. His experience includes serving in various capacities on the landfill owner’s side of the business, including General Manager at one of Asia’s largest landfill projects in Hong Kong. He has also directed a regional construction management program for solid waste clients and has developed and run a national geosynthetics installation company. Carl earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Ohio University.
Peter J. AugustinPeter Augustin serves as AEGL’s Treasurer and oversees the Construction Services group of the Company. Peter is a Civil Engineer with extensive management experience in all phases of landfill construction. He is credited with establishing many of the Company’s project cost estimating and control protocols and serves as the account manager for many of AEGL’s national clients.
John BeemanJohn Beeman serves as AEGL’s Operations Manager of Geosynthetics. He possesses over 19 years experience in the geosynthetics industry and has supervised and installed over hundreds of millions of square feet of numerous types of geosynthetic material from all major manufacturers.
Darrin F. HartmanDarrin Hartman has nearly 13 years experience in the environmental industry performing landfill gas (LFG) and solid waste services. Darrin serves as General Manager of AEGL's Midwest Regions Operations and Maintenance Division. Darrin is responsible for providing a wide range of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and small construction services to solid waste clients in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky. His additional responsibilities include client and project management, business development, cost estimating, and proposal and report preparation.
James HelmickJim Helmick serves as AEGL’s Corporate Health and Safety Director. Jim has over 25 years experience in the oil well field and heavy construction industry. Jim has developed a number of process and equipment modifications to allow safe and successful drilling and well installations in landfill environments.
Michael C. MaurerMike Maurer serves as AEGL’s Secretary and Vice President in charge of the landfill gas drilling and gas system construction services. Mike has over 24 years of experience in heavy construction, specializing in the installation of landfill gas and landfill leachate pipeline and control systems. Mike has developed a strong reputation for building dedicated crews committed to performance, especially on difficult projects.
Roy McMastersRoy McMasters possesses over 17 years experience in landfill gas collection system installation and serves as construction superintendent for AEGL. He has extensive experience in the installation of high density polyethylene, PVC, ADS, and various steel piping systems. Roy is qualified to operate various types of heavy equipment and his technical experiences include fusion welding techniques and electrofusion operation.
Mark Shipps is one of the founding Members and serves as President of American Environmental Group, Ltd. (AEGL). He has nearly thirty-one years of industry experience in solid waste and hazardous waste engineering, remediation, and construction as well as more than thirteen years of experience in the landfill gas industry. Prior to AEGL he served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Organic Waste Technologies, Inc. (OWT), a wholly owned subsidiary of the IT Group and as Vice-President of the EMCON/OWT Solid Waste Division of The IT Group. Mr. Shipps holds a BA degree in Zoology and Chemistry, and has completed further graduate work in business administration and marine biology. Mr. Shipps' career includes extensive experience in general management, including project development, projects and contract management, technical services and operations management, consulting, and profit center management. In his role as President and Chairman of the Board of OWT, he orchestrated the profitable growth of a medium sized (less than $100 million annual revenues), diversified services company. His interests and experience are primarily orientated towards smaller company growth. Kevin ShullKevin Shull possesses over 16 years experience in landfill gas collection system installation and serves as construction superintendent for AEGL. He has extensive experience in the installation of high density polyethylene, PVC, ADS, and various steel piping systems. Kevin is qualified to operate various types of heavy equipment and his technical experience includes fusion welding techniques and electrofusion operation.
Ernest L. Vallorz, Jr.Ernie Vallorz is the Chief Financial Officer of American Environmental Group, Ltd. As CFO of AEGL, Ernie is responsible for all accounting, financial and administrative functions of the company.
