The solid waste industry is continuing to focus on its core activities of hauling and placement of waste, as they downsize their internal staff and turn to the outsourcing of non-core activities. Stringent control over cash expenditure has moved the industry to a "just-in-time" mentality with regard to new cell development, landfill closure, and other capital spending activities. American Environmental Group, Ltd. has the ability to assist with the management, coordination, and certification of annual construction activities. Members of AEGL’s ownership team have been providing these services throughout the Midwest for the past 12 years. Typical construction management services include:
These construction management services can be performed on either an "at-risk" or "consulting" basis. Under an at-risk agreement, AEGL contracts directly with the client to perform the work and manages the other trades through subcontract agreements, with contractual flow-down provisions. Under a consulting arrangement, the various subcontractors contract directly with the client, and AEGL performs the listed services with no direct contractual link to the other parties. Compensation for these services is typically accomplished by charging either a lump sum fee, a percent fee based on project revenue, or an hourly rate reimbursement.
